Weekly MP3

Weekly mp3 #160: Loscil - Stratus

Deepest drones ever, courtesy of this free release, 'Stases', on the net-label One.

Weekly mp3 #159: Osborne - Afrika (Bullion Remix)

Promo pic of Bullion

Chipper electronic funk with vocal samples from some part of Africa.  Pitchfork has the goods.

Syncopated drum machines, plenty of hand claps and cheery bass guitar form the guts of this mix. Singing, chanting, electric guitar and all kinds of keyboard sounds keep things on the move. As with most Bullion tracks, nothing sits still for long.

Weekly mp3 #158: Denver McCarthy - Rainbow City

Denver McCarthy performing with Hare Krishnas

Energetic Kiwi electro with constantly morphing synths. Epitonic give me the chance to link to another classic I've loved for over a decade.

Weekly mp3 #157: Janek Schaefer - Broadstairs Children's Piano Trio

Live pic of Janek Schaefer

I guess this marks the 3rd anniversary "officially". From the cryptically-named compilation Mus*****c, which the Spanish record label Crónica put out on their 5th anniversary in 2008.

Weekly mp3 #156: I Heart Lung - Interoceans II (Strategy Remix)

Live pic of I Heart Lung

Some great post-post-lounge-dub-Kraut-good-times.  Listen or download at the Asthmatic Kitty label.

Weekly mp3 #155: Blondes - Spanish Fly

Live pic of Blondes

Washy looping synths and femvox.  More free RCRDLBL gear - they've changed their set up so you have to sign up to download, but give it a listen either way.

Weekly mp3 #154: Lufth - Der Zustand Des Moments

Promo pic of Sensual Physics

Downtempo tech-lurch released by Thinner back in 2003. You can listen and download still at The Internet Archive

Weekly mp3 #153: Juana Molina - Un Día

Argentinean loop-pop?  Dublab for stream and download...

Weekly mp3 #152: Panda Bear - Comfy In Nautica

Free from Spinner. Here's a video in lieu of a streamer:

Weekly mp3 #151: Dntel - (This Is) The Dream Of Evan & Chan (Safety Scissors Spilled My Drink Mix)

Jimmy Tamborello aka Dntel

Proto-future garage (ha!) with the great vocals of Erlend Øye. One of my fave tracks of 2002, improbably available online in 2011 thanks to the classic music-finding site Epitonic having a bit of a re-launch.
