Weekly mp3 #108: Poland - AUSLAN
Get this from the Australian netlabel Pocketclock.
The opening beat could well actually be pots and pans. Something like a banjo or ukelele lays out the melody. A thumping kick drum should anchor the track, but the timing is as drunken as everything else. All very appropriate for a song about being hungover, working in a bar. The vocals are multi-tracked and similarly woozy. A synth solo attempts to come in towards the end and gets digitally shredded. It's really cool.
Poland was also called Holland, just to confuse things. Which I think may be something to do with her name actually being Holly. Anyway, she lives in Melbourne, Australia. She kindly sent me an MP3 of a new song of hers when I wrote to her to say I liked her stuff. Yay for friendly musos!
