Weekly mp3 #117: Florence & The Machine - You've Got The Love (XX Remix)

RCRDLBL put this up back in September last year.  (If I haven't said already, I hate how mp3 blogs tend towards just aggregating the latest hype shit, so I almost always hold off at least a few months before I consider posting a track.)

Anyway. This:

The XX's remix may as well be considered their own cover of Candi Stanton's number, given they do more singing than Florence, on top of their own instrumentation.  The bits that appear from the original are some of Florence's most stentorian moments, chopped, transposed and reassembled in a classic UK garage style.

I much, much prefer the restraint in both singing and instrumentation in the XX version to Florence's all-stops-pulled approach.  If you're wanting to go overblown, at least keep it housey. :D
