Weekly mp3 #157: Janek Schaefer - Broadstairs Children's Piano Trio

I guess this marks the 3rd anniversary "officially". From the cryptically-named compilation Mus*****c, which the Spanish record label Crónica put out on their 5th anniversary in 2008.

As you would expect from the above picture, this track is beatless ambience, pretty much just some slow (and slowly-shifting) piano loops with plenty of record noise. Beautiful crackling business created courtesy of Schaefer's tri-phonic turntable (which allows him to play 3 parts of a record or up to 3 different records simultaneously, and reduce the turntable speed to as slow as 1.5 RPM.

Janek Schaefer is a Brit. He's been doing variations on this turntable thang for a good while and I personally never get tired of it.
