Jet Jaguar remix of Black Seeds available for free

Wellington-based reggae band The Black Seeds have released a free sampler of their tunes, (available until 31 December) which includes a remix I did for them back in 2001.

This is definitely the single bit of music I'm most well known for.  It topped the independent music radio play charts in NZ for weeks and weeks and I was nominated for a b.net award for best remix in 2002.

I did the mix in a day, the week before I moved to Australia - ironic for a track called 'Coming Back Home'.  The flat was in a terrible mess when we left, cos I'd skived off to do music.  So rock'n'roll.

My main motivation for doing the mix in the style I did it in was to use a technique I'd been mucking around with for a couple of years before it sounded too played out. I'd mostly been using it to chop up synth lines I'd written, or old soul ballads or whatever, but this guy Prefuse 73 was getting big press at the time for using it to slice and dice acapellas. So I just got stuck in on the vocal of this straightforward reggae track in a similar style...
