Download a Fireworks Night remix

I've made available an MP3 of a track I did last year for a British band called Fireworks Night External link.

Here's a direct link:

All The Little Insects (Jet Jaguar Remix) - Fireworks Night

The original was released through Kartel External link and this version may appear on CD (or other uncompressed format...) later in the year.

Victim of a Jewel School Aikido blend

I slipped The Jewel School External link some exclusives for their all-NZ music week show. They blended a track of mine with an acapella from Slum Village! Bit of a giggle, and glad to know New Zealand has annexed Detroit (Hey, we got Recloose, it obviously started a while back...).

You can download the whole show, with heaps of other NZ music on the downtempo / jazzy / Gilles-Peterson-is-alright-with-us tip:

New Jet Jaguar EP free for download

My first solo release in about 5 years is available now, thanks to ridiculously long-standing net label Monotonik External link. 5 tracks, all free. Hope you enjoy it.

Jet Jaguar - Biddy Bids External link

Here's a little blurb about each track:

Red

Was working on it for a dub net label that's yet to see the light of day, so it's obviously got a bit of a skank going on. To add some grit beyond what software would do for me I actually used an FM transmitter to send bits of the track from my computer to my MP3 player and record them off-station, walking around the house and so on. Well, plus some recordings of Tokyo radio.

Basashi Aisu

Japanese for "raw horse meat icecream". Search if you like, but, believe me, it exists. It's not popular at all, at least from people I spoke to in Tokyo, but it is available. More Japanese radio samples, some strings from a Dvorak recording at the end.

Enjoy Mask Aesthetic

Name is a t-shirt slogan I saw on a young woman in Tokyo. The drums in this are all sounds of walking in snow through Hokkaido, processed and built into beats, recorded again, played at wrong pitches, re-rhythmed, re-sequenced, re-sampled... So basically it could've been anything, but I think a bit of the chilliness remains. Really happy with the stupidly grubby bassline, the sub bass wobbles, and the mangled melody.

Disasters In Reverse

Another t-shirt slogan title. I recorded the entirety of a subway ride to see one of my private students when I was teaching English in Tokyo, and you can hear big chunks of that in here. The ambient number, I suppose. Maybe, that describes all of these tracks.

Kent's Windchime Recording

A guy called Kent made these recordings of his neighbour's windchimes. This track is made entirely from those recordings - beats, bass, chords, and melodies. Figured the prosaic name was suitable - not often my track titles actually connect much to the sounds!

Malty Media set to stream or download

Stu's uploaded a half hour chunk of our last Malty Media gig, which gives a fairly decent idea of what we get up to. Check out his write-up External link and the audio itself, if you're so inclined.

Montano album available online

You can grab dirt cheap MP3s of the entire Montano album now from Amie Street External link. They're high quality (VBR, LAME -V2 quality if that means anything).

Right now they're absolutely free! I think you even get a set of steak knives if you act fast enough?
