2009 round-up

Released a free Jet Jaguar EP via Angry Rabbit
Stuart and I released a free Malty Media EP via Monotonik
Spent 22 hours DJing DEEP
Spent 50 hours DJing the Malty Media show with Stuart and various other friends - with a conservative estimate of 100 hours prep on top of that, given how much remixing and original stuff we do for each one.
Had a video entered in the Handle The Jandal competition. You can watch it on Youtube or download the whole thing via my downloads page. Thanks to Ned Wenlock, who did all the work.
Redesigned the Malty Media site
Shanan and I finished 3 Montano tracks and had a US label express interest...
Remixed 'The Raft' by Fat Freddy's Drop. Not yet released.
Remixed 'East India Company' and 'Distant Stations' by Group Five. Not yet released, but I played out the first of them on a sea-themed Malty Media show.
Remixed 'Jamoi' by Tomorrowpeople. Not yet released.
Remixed 'Finding Seeds' by Build Buildings. Not yet released.
Remixed 'Beso' by Aether. Won't ever come out, as it was a competition where only the top pick was released. Apparently I was the artist's second favourite, but I still wouldn't have bothered if I'd known it was only one track seeing release. Anyway, got some good beats out of it for another track. You can also hear the thing on this Malty Media show - I was coy about naming it so it just says "Discrete remix".
Wrote an entire album in 24 hours as a challenge. 'Liztldorf' was the only track that was really any great cop, but it was fun to do it.
Wrote some pieces for a kids' TV show.

I've spent a huge chunk of my music-making time this year trading tracks and preparing shows with my old mate Stuart - a project we foolishly called Malty Media. The net label Monotonik has just put out a second, free EP of our "original" material.

You can get the thing and read Stuart's write-up of each track on the Malty Media website.

Check out the new look of the site while you're there and/or sign up to be our Facebook fans. I don't usually write all the ins and outs of our shows etc. on nonwrestler.

I've started uploading older releases to bandcamp.com which basically allows me to sell them direct to you in digital without anyone taking a cut. I've priced them cheaply and am still giving away the ones that are given away on this site.

Video for 'Red' gets a nod in Handle the Jandal

Ned Wenlock's video for 'Red' got the "honourable mention" at this year's Handle The Jandal awards - i.e. it was 16th out of the 130+ vids submitted, so just missed out on being shortlisted. The best of the losers. Haha. I think it's great.

The free EP this tune is from came out in 2008 on Monotonik.

PS. I enthused about the vid that won a while back, so was stoked to hear it won. Even if it still kind of freaks me out.
